Ladislau (Ladis) Stefaniak, 80, of Rt. 1, Newton, died Wednesday evening
at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Schneider-Mittnacht
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church,
Northeim. The Rev. Anthony Betley will officiate and burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Mr. Stefaniak was born May 29, 1893, at Newton, son of the late Joseph and
Johanna Sievert Stefaniak. He was educated at Newton schools. He served as
a corporal in the U.S. Army in France. He married Mary Grady June 21, 1921,
at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. He was a carpenter until his retirement
in 1958. He was a member of the Manitowoc Local Carpenters Union and Eagles
Aerie No. 706 of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife and three sisters, Mrs. Wanda Jung, and Mrs. John
Mrotek, of Manitowoc and Mrs. Anthony Cizek, of Northeim. Three brothers and
two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday, where a prayer
service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Harry J. Bergner is in charge of funeral
arrangements.
