John P. Whelchel a Resident in or Near Kansas City 25 Years
John P. Whelchel, 80 years old, Loring, Kansas; a Kansas Pioneer, died Friday at his home. Mr. Whelchel had resided in or near Kansas City 25 years. He was a veteran of the Civil War, and was with General Sherman on his famous March to the sea.
Mr. Whelchel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Helms Whelchel of the home address, and two daughters, Mrs. Addie Anderson, and Mrs. Rosamond Bidstrup, Kansas City. Funeral services were at the Christian church, Bonner Springs. Burial was in the Bonner Springs City Cemetery.
