His parents were Rodolphus Dewey (b. 17 Oct 1766, d. 25 May 1839) and Jemima Kinney (b. 2 May 1766, d. 27 June 1804). Holdredge was a U.S. Custom House clerk during & after Lincoln's administration. His 1st wife was Harriet Kinney. Cynthia resided in Jersey City as a widow in 1887.
