William Leroy Purdue, 66, of 2120 Roblee St., Murphysboro died today in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 10, 1896, in Booneville, Ind., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Purdue. He was married June 2, 1934, to Flora Belcher.

Mr. Purdue was a retired employee of General Motors Co.

He leaves his wife; a step-son, Kenneth Powell of Flint, Mich.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Juanita Hopkins of Flint, Mich.; and sisters, Mrs. Mable Dewig and Mrs. Eula Malone, both of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Gertrude Addington of Elizabethtown, Ky.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Pentecostal Church. Rev. Paul Worley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Crawshaw Mortuary Chapel in Murphysboro from 4 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.
