John Wilson Miller, son of John and Sarah Hanes Miller,
was born in Beaver County, Pa., Feb. 12, 1838, and departed this life
at his home near Langsville, O., where hehad lived almost 68 years, on Jan. 29, 1932, aged 93 years, 11 months and 17 days. His parents came down the riveron a flatboat in December, 1841, and settled on Brier Ridgehill near Langsville where he spent his boyhood days.
July 27, 1862, he was united in marriage to Lucina Barton with whom
he lived a happy, contented life for over sixty-eight years until she passed on Nov. 20, 1930. To this union were born five sons and six daughters, all of whom they raised. Austin died in 1891 and Winnie in 1899.
Nine are living. They are
William and Mrs. Emma Piper, of Vinton, O.;
Lewis, of Rio Grande, O.;
Ray W., of Parkersburg, Va.;
Von A., of near Langsville,
Alice, Daisy, Ethel and Mabel at home
who tenderly cared for their aged parents.
He leaves twenty-one grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. He was a highly respected citizen and during his active years was a progressive and enterprising farmer fully abreast of the times.
The funeral was held at the Rose Hill M. E. church Sunday, Jan. 31,
at 2 p. m. and was preached by Rev. Stump of Bidwell, assisted by Rev.
Laud Miller, of Albany.Burial in the Rutherford cemetery by Undertaker Butler ofVinton.
