Winton E. Blexrud, 78 of Spring Grove, Minn., died on Sunday, Dec.19, 2010 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
Winton was born in Spring Grove on June 11, 1932 to Winton T. and Ella (Sollien) Blexrud. Winton was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and was a 1950 graduate of Spring Grove High School. He had proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950-1954 with the "Sea Bees" in unit number MCB4. He married Harriet Peterson at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of La Crosse on Dec. 21, 1957 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1991. He was a member of the Dyrdal-Prolow American Legion Post 249 in Spring Grove.
Winton is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (John) DeLong, Glendale, Wis. and Betty (Damian) Strigens, Bay View, Wis.; one son Bill (Tracey) Blexrud, La Crescent, Minn.; five grandchildren; his sister Barbara (Ed) Ferkingstad, Caledonia, Minn. and his brother Arlie (Marilyn) Blexrud, Hokah, Minn.
In addition to his wife Harriet, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Roxanne Marie, and one brother Myles.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
