Lloyd S. Clark, age 94, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Pape Funeral Home. A Memorial Service, conducted by Pastor Dennis Glew, will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
Lloyd was born in Camanche on August 28, 1918, the son of Floyd and Eva (Flack) Clark. He married Lois Burmeister on May 26, 1941 in Clinton. Lois passed away on December 19, 1985. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army with the 162nd Infantry, 41st Division during W.W.II.
He received the Purple Heart for wounds received in the battle for Mindanao in the Philippines. Lloyd was employed at Curtis Company and later at International Paper, from where he retired.
He was a member of the AMVETS, American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, visiting the casino and following the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Lloyd is survived by five children; Darrell (Barbara) Clark of Houston, Pamela (Dick) Reynolds of Clinton, Steven (Lisa) Clark of LaMotte, Iowa, Lori (Tom) Guilliams of Clinton and Susan (John) Hanline of Van Buren, Michigan; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Cynthia, one brother and two sisters. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Vets.
