Mrs. Angstrom's Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. John Angstrom were held Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m., from Wilbur Christian church, the Rev. David Jaynes officiating. The soloist, Mrs. Kenneth Botts, sang "In the Garden" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," with Mrs. Ben Pease playing the organ accompaniment.
Pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased-Dean, Boyd, Dellis, David and Edward Angstrom and Harold E. Miller. Interment was in Wilbur cemetery with Robertson Funeral Home in charge.
Obituary
Mrs. Anne Angstrom was born August 3, 1875, in Iowa, and died at her home in Wilbur, September 16, 1959, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 13 days.
She was married to John Angstrom at Stratford, Iowa, in 1895.
She and her family came to this area in 1903 and located on a farm east of Wilbur. She and her husband moved to town in 1937 and have been residents here since that time.
She was an active member of the Christian church, the Rebekah lodge, the Wilbur Community Club, the Wilbur Grange, the Friday Club and the Sherman Cemetery Club.
Survivors include her husband, John, at the home; one son, Robert Angstrom, of Wilbur; one daughter Mrs. Henry (Inez) Miller of Wilbur; 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Three sons, Albert, Vernon and Floyd Angstrom - preceded their mother in death.
She raised two foster daughters, Audrey Eskine and Amelia Phillips, both of whom died long ago. In pioneer days, Grandma Angstrom loved to lend a helping hand whenever needed, and she welcomed many babies into the world when there was no doctor available.
She was a busy person always, and not even a broken hip suffered a year ago could keep her at home long. Her hands were never idle. She still worked with her flowers and she was crocheting and embroidering the day before her sudden death.
