Danny Joe Holmes, Sr., age 69, of Elwood, passed away on October 28, 2011 at his residence in Elwood.
Danny was born on May 6, 1942, to Joseph Holmes and Fran (Elliott) Bias in Elwood, and was raised by his aunt & uncle Merrill & Margaret Holmes.
Danny was a 1960 graduate of Elwood High School and first chair trumpet in the band. He and his high school sweetheart, Karon (Balser) were married on August 14, 1961, they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Danny retired from Chrysler after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Local UAW #685.
Danny loved growing up in Elwood and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached his sons in Little League Baseball for many years.
He was an avid outdoorsman he loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt & uncle Merrill & Margaret Holmes, and half-brother Jude Holmes.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at the Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Matthew Miller officiating.
Burial will take place in the Elwood Cemetery.
