Mr. Sherwood died about 11:45 Monday morning, November 12, in Shamrock General Hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday morning. Born April 30, 1885, in Poolville, Parker County, Texas, his family moved to Clay County when he was one year of age. In 1895 they moved to Indian territory where he attended school. He came to Wheeler county in 1905, where he engaged in farming.
Miss Flora Bloodworth and D.H. Sherwood were married in Wellington February 7, 1912. They lived on farms in the Bethel Community and Porter Flat near Twitty until 1945 when Mr. Sherwood retired.
In recent years he has made a hobby and a business of cutting down and digging up unwanted trees. He was regularly engaged in this activity until the latter part of 1972. He was a member of the Eleventh Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons: Luther Sherwood of Sheffield, Alabama; Cecil Sherwood, Santa Fe, New Mexico; David E. Sherwood of Las Animas, New Mexico; three daughters: Mrs. Beatrice Koenig of Austin, Mrs. Mabel McDonough of Kingman, Kansas; Mrs. Dolly Shull of Tuscumbia, Alabama; one brother Howard Sherwood of Shamrock, one sister, Mrs. Arzetta Pierson of Los Angeles, California; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
