On Saturday, April 7, 2012, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Katherine Hutchinson Brewer of Robinette, went to see her Lord and Savior. She was in her 79th year.

Known affectionately as "Kat" all her life, Katherine Elizabeth Hutchinson was born October 22, 1932 at Lundale. Her parents were the late Marion and Lillie Elkins Hutchinson. Brothers, Marion and Damon Hutchinson, and sisters, Doris Smith and Lois Hutchinson have preceded her in death.

A lifelong resident of Logan County, Katherine spent her childhood at Accoville Flats. In May of 1949, she married Emory Rickey Brewer. They have made their home at Robinette since 1950. To this union was born two children, Donna Sue and Timothy Rickey.

Kat will be remembered as a dedicated homemaker, her home was impeccable in appearance. Kat's home was always open to family and friends alike. In 1958, she became a member of the Crown Freewill Baptist. The oldest member of the church at the time of her passing, Kat was very devoted and faithful to her church. Kat loved gardening, fishing, collected cookie jars and antiques; she will be remembered as "The Good Neighbor."

She leaves to cherish her memory, her caring husband of nearly 63 years, Emory; her children who loved her, Susie Heflin and her husband, John of Robinette and Tim of Beckley; she was the doting "Maw Maw" to Shaun and John "Bones" Heflin; the fond sister of Margaret Adkins and her husband, Arbie of Amherstdale Bottom, Wanda Wilburn of Amherstdale, Glenna Stroud and her husband, Rex of Peking, Ill., Gladys Hayes of Plant City, Fla., James Hutchinson and his wife, Fannie Mae of Dover, Fla., Donnie Hutchinson and his wife, Brenda of Plant City, Karen Burgess of Accoville, Sharon Vance and her husband, Clyde of Robinette; a sister-in-law, Ora Hutchinson of El Paso, Texas; a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Sadly, nieces Patricia and Lisa have preceded "Aunt Kat" in death at a young age. Kat leaves many friends and her church family.

On Wednesday, April 11, at 1 p.m. we will remember the life of Katherine Elizabeth Brewer with a "Service of Remembrance" at the Crown Freewill Baptist Church at Crown. Pastors Rev. Charles and Rev. Roger Vance will be officiating. Katherine will then be laid to rest in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Her grandsons and friends of the family will carry her to her rest.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
