Anna Doris Sumpter Smithson born November 8, 1923 to Andrew Galloway Sumpter and Almeda Brown in Qualls, OK. She married the love of her life, W.A."Smitty" Smithson in Muskogee, OK and together they raised four children Donald, Cheryl, Bud and Pamela. Her husband preceded her in death on April 3, 2007 in Sallisaw, OK. Anna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron and served as a Grand Officer. She also served as Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor in Sallisaw and was a member of the Sequoyah County Democrat's and had the privilege of being the Democrat Woman of the Year for the Sequoyah County Democrat Women. Over the years, Anna was many things. She prepared an untold number of meals as school cook for Sallisaw Schools and was a professional seamstress for many years. Later in life, she was the co-owner/operator of Smitty's Bait and Tackle and Smitty's BBQ in Sallisaw until she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, 5 brothers, Howard, Arvel, Clifford, Calvin and Jimmie Sumpter, and 1 daughter-in-law, Carol Smithson.
