Professional Football Player. He played in the NFL for the Cleveland Rams from 1937 to 1938 after being a college star at Xavier University in Ohio. Commanded Navy scout boats during Allied landings in Sicily and during the Normandy invasion on D-Day during World War II. Commanded the SEALs during Korea and Vietnam, their training center in Coronado, California is named the Phil H. Bucklew Center for United States Navy Special Warfare.
