Edward first married Elizabeth Oliver on 22 Sep 1800. She died on 7 Sep 1808. He second married Mrs. Mary (Ridgeway) Barrett on 17 Sep 1809. Thomas Barrett had died 1 Dec 1807. Both had children from their first marriage.

The deed states the crypt is owned by "Edw. Horsman and Robt. Lash, Jr. 1809, John S. Perkins 1825." John Perkins was a New York estate attorney.

The tomb contains the remains of 25-30 Horsman and Lash relations.

The daughter of Edward Horsman, Mary Ridgeway (Horsman) Bartoll, had moved to NYC with her husband Samuel Bartoll. Separately, the son of Edward Horseman, also Edward I. Horseman, also moved to NYC. Either of them may have entrusted the crypt to their attorney for his safekeeping.

The Lashes and Horsmans have no known familial relation, though both Robert Sr. and Edward were shipbuilders. Robert Lash, Sr. was a member of the Sons of Liberty and a participant in the Boston Tea Party and is buried in this tomb. Robert Lash Jr. was buried in Everett, MA.
