Ivan S. Thompson, Jr., 72, of Big Beaver Boro, died Friday, March 1, 2013, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.

Born November 27, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, PA, he was the son of the late Reverend Ivan and Blanche (Kimmel) Thompson, Sr. and had been employed with B&W and DB&S Steel Corporation as a machinist. He attended the Homewood United Methodist Church and had served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He loved camping and traveling and was an avid reader of history.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Donna 'Sis' (Ferren) Thompson; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gene Goehring, Rochester, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kim Thompson, Enon Valley, PA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Forrest Thompson, and Wesley and Darlene Thompson, all of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; a brother-in-law, Larry Ferren and his wife Barbara, Shinnston, WV; a sister-in-law, Jeney Dunham and her husband Henny, Darlington, PA and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington road, www.campbellfuneralhomes.com, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Gary Hilton of the Homewood United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, PA.

Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. by the Veteran's Honor Guard.
