Doris and Darrell Ashburn were united in marriage April 21, 1950. Darrell worked for a contractor and they traveled around the state of Iowa, building rural electric lines. He worked for Rural Electric Cooperative in Corning, Iowa where their three daughters were born. In 1957, the family moved to Onawa and Darrell worked for Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative. Doris was employed at Onawa Sentinel, Moons Dime Store, The Country Store, Pronto and Fast Stop.
