TEXAS CITY - John L. Yancy Sr., 43, of Texas City died Wednesday, February 12th at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Funeral services will be held at
1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15th at Progressive Baptist Church in Texas City with Dr. W.C. Yancy officiating and Rev. Jonathan Steel, Sr., pastor. Burial will follow at Rising Star Cemetery in La Marque under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque. Visitation.will be held from 1 to 5pm Friday at the funeral home and continue from 6 to 8pm Friday at New Hope Bible Church in La Marque.

Born, January 22, 1949 in Marshall, Texas, Mr. Yancy was a member of New Hope Bible Church where he served in the Male Chorus. He was formerly employed at Amoco Oil.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Yancy; mother and father, Louise and Climmie T. Yancy, Sr.; children, Denesha Yancy and John L. Yancy, Jr. all of Texas City; sister, Karen Denise Dotson of Clear Lake; brothers, Climmie T. Yancy, Jr. of Dickinson, Kevin Yancy, Damon Yancy both of Texas City and Climmie Taylor Yancy of Los Angeles, California; his Goddaughter, LaTara Bingley of Texas City; granddaughter, Talina Ferrell; mother and father-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.
