DUMAS — Jerry Don Hays, 72, of Dumas died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev Jerry Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Mr. Hays was born Nov. 28, 1940, in Loop to Noel and Mary Armstrong Hays. He married Beth Runstetler on June 5, 1966, in Dumas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tami Barry of McKinney; a son, Kerry Hays of Dumas; a sister, Patsy Osborn of Colbert, Okla.; a brother, Ray Hays of Fort Worth; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church Media Ministry or Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 617, Dumas, TX 79029; or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284.

Jerry Don Hays, 72 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev Jerry Howe officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Jerry was born on November 28, 1940 to Noel and Mary (Armstrong) Hays in Loop, TX. He has been in the community since 1964 and on June 5, 1966 he married the lovely Beth Runstetler in Dumas. Jerry was a devoted Christian who took pleasure in actively serving in his church. He enjoyed fishing, volunteering at the Dumas Chamber of Commerce and was on the Dumas Cub Scout Council. Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Bobby Hays; and sister: Marilyn Hays.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Beth of the home; daughter: Tami Barry of McKinney; son: Kerry Hays and wife Suzie of Dumas; sister: Patsy Osborn of Colbert, OK: brother: Ray Hays of Ft. Worth; and four grandchildren: Audrey and Hannah Barry both of Mckinney, and Koner and Kylie Hays both of Dumas.
