Carla Marie Theisen passed into the arms of her Saviour and Blessed Mother on February 28, 2013.

Paul and Dorris Holden welcomed their first daughter into their lives on November 12, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Shortly after the end of World War II, they moved back to their home, Seattle. Carla grew up in the Ravenna neighborhood. She was a lively young woman, and the adored big sister of three more to come.

Carla was educated in the Benedictine tradition at Assumption Grade School. She continued at Blanchet High School, where she was a primary dancer in Blanchet Musicals. Following high school, she attended Seattle University, majoring in Education and French. Her final year of university studies was spent at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

Upon returning home to Seattle, she entered the teaching profession, and became a beloved and energetic kindergarten teacher at Stevens Elementary on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Carla met her wonderful husband, Jack during this time. They married on October 5th, 1974 and Carla moved to Mount Vernon, where she developed many lifelong friends.

She participated in a French Club, enjoying the company of other fluent speakers. She was active in her parish, Immaculate Conception. She extended a welcome smile and friendly conversation to all she met. Carla was very concerned about others all her life.

Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Dorris, and her sister, Paula.

She leaves behind her husband, Jack; father, Paul Holden; sister Mary Lyons (Dan) and Teresa Buckland (Mike); nephews, Jon and Cory Buckland. In addition to her immediate family, Carla leaves behind many dear family members and special friends.

The family would like to thank all of Carla's care providers for their support during her illness. Particularly, the support of the providers at Skagit Valley Hospital and the Mount Vernon Kidney Center, was greatly appreciated.
