Viola Mae Hamrick
June 21, 1915 - September 23, 2008
Viola Mae Hamrick, 93 of Sprattsville, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from her residence.

Born on June 21, 1915, at Snake Run in Greenbrier County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Elvira (Lusher) Forren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayes Hamrick and one son, Larry Hamrick.

Viola was in the graduating class of 1932 from Alderson High School. She, her husband, and their son Layton were owners and operators of Hamrick Equipment from 1972 to 1989. She was a member of the Justice Methodist Church for 57 years. She took pride in being a homemaker and caregiver who touched many lives with her love and compassion. Her heart and kitchen were never closed to a friend or a stranger. She cared for generations of children in the family and the community.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Viola are: her loving children: Layton Hamrick of Sprattsville, Terry (Merlene) Hamrick of Justice, Patricia (Bill) Goad of Barboursville, and Anita Merritt of Sprattsville; her daughter-in-law, Judy Hamrick of Williamson; her grandson, Todd (Rhonda) Hamrick of Sprattsville; her sister, Garnet Simmons of Mullens; her 14 grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of friends, including her special neighbor Tina Cline, her pastor Ralph Reedy and his wife Doris, and many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to her special care givers: her daughter Anita, and other family members including her granddaughters Katrina Blankenship and Lara Fox. Due to their love and care she was able to remain at her home for the last years of her life.

Friends called at the Justice Methodist Church in Justice on Thursday, September 25th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 26th at the Justice Methodist Church with her faithful pastor and friend, Rev. Ralph Reedy officiating. A graveside service was held at 4:00 pm at the McElhenny Cemetery at Grassy Meadows in Greenbrier County WV.
Pallbearers were: Phillip and Craig Blankenship, Michael Fox, David Merritt, and Billy and Jeff Goad.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Justice Methodist Church or to Dignity Hospice (P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV. 25508), whose support was truly a blessing.
