A very sad accident occurred Thursday evening about six o'clock at the home of Mr and Mrs T B Barker, who reside on Beech Run some three miles from Hinton, when their daughter, Miss Allie, was so badly scalded that she died a few hours later.

They were making apple butter and had a large kettle on the stove in the kitchen. Their daughter, Allie, who had been subject to partial paralysis for many years was in the room alone and it is supposed that she was stricken with a fit and grabbed the kettle and upset it. She fell upon the floor and the contents of the kettle burned her so badly that she died about two o'clock this morning. As soon as the kettle was upset the noise aroused other members of the family who ran to rescue, but she was relieved by death at the hour mentioned.

She was about 35 years of age, but owing to her affliction did not go out very much. She leaves in addition to her father and mother, three brothers as follows: Thos of Avis, C L, of Moundsville and Napolean who is temporarily located at Riley. Two sisters, Mrs A G Frayer and Mrs J A Harvey, of Avis, also survive, on addition to a number of friends.
