Mr. Carroll Warren Cason, 85 of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening, February 28, 2013, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an illness.

Born in Blackshear, Georgia on July 18, 1927, Mr. Cason had lived in Pierce County for most of his life. He was an exceptional tobacco farmer and cattle producer for over 50 years and had also received the Farmer of the Year and the Tree Farmer of the Year awards. He was on the Farm Credit Board for 12 years.

Mr. Cason was an avid golfer, beginning the sport in his mid 40's. He had played in tournaments and played rounds of golf several times a week with his regular golfing buddies.

He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church for 56 years where he had taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. He became an ordained deacon in 1962, and was a former Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Associate Area Director of the Baptist Training Union and a member of the building committee.

He was a son of the late David Victor and Frances Bennett Cason; and was also preceded in death by his step mother, Elizabeth Roberts Cason; three children, Ray Steven Cason, Carroll Warren Cason, Jr., and an infant daughter; his brothers and sisters, David Elmer Cason, Lillian Elizabeth Cason Harrison, James Brantley Cason, Onie Cason Sidden and Rilzie Cason Allen, Harvey Cason, Estelle Cason Saunders, James David Cason and Delmas Cason; two step siblings, Archie Brown and Carlas Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Fairol Howard Cason; five children, Vicky Carter (husband Mike), Holly Walker (husband Joey), David Cason, Leah Sikes (husband Shane) and Betsy Carbaugh (husband Chris); nine grandchildren, Shauna Dixon, Warren Walker (wife Gina), Winston Walker, Whitney Walker, Cason Carbaugh, Kelly Carbaugh, Holly Anne Carbaugh, Dakota Sikes and Shaye Sikes; many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

Visitation:
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Sunday evening, March 3, 2013 at the funeral home.

Service:
The funeral for Mr. Cason will be held 11:00 o'clock Monday morning, March 4, 2013, at Rehobeth Baptist Church.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that the Adult Sunday School Class serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the church by 10:30.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
