Jack is son of Wade Hampton Whittle and Eunice McCARTY.

He was married to Magdalene Johnston.

War casualty record: Sergeant Whittle was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, X Corps, U.S. Army. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on July 22, 1951. Sergeant Whittle was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
