US Congressman. He was elected as a Democrat to first represent Pennsylvania's 6th, then 8th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1818 to 1824. He was interred in New Market Street Baptist Church Graveyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before being removed to first Philadelphia's Glenwood Cemetery, then to Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Broomall, Pennsylvania. He was the father of Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General William Finley Rogers.
