She was born on September 22, 1923, in Arcadia to George and Margaret (Zeller) Abts. She married Michael Suchla on May 21, 1946, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia. She was a homemaker, had worked at Ben Franklin, and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s Rosary Society.
She is survived by eight sons, David (Jeanette) Suchla of Eau Claire, Donald (Ruth) Suchla of Winona, Minn., Duane (Renee) Suchla of Arcadia, Darell Suchla of Arcadia, Daniel (Nancy) Suchla of Arcadia, Dennis (Cindy) Suchla of Arcadia, Dale Suchla of Burnsville, Minn., Dean (Brenda) Suchla of Whitehall; one daughter, Dori (Marty) Koehler of Alexandria, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene “Bud” (Luz Maria) Abts of El Paso, Texas, William (Shirley) Abts of Bellevue, Neb., Daniel “Butch” (Patty) Abts of Arcadia; seven sisters, Marjorie Rumpel of Arcadia, Dawn Kostner of Arcadia, Catherine (Orv) Brenner of Cadott, Wis., Evelyn (Clifford) Laehn of Phoenix, Ariz., Carmen (Raymond) Ver Hagen of Grafton, Wis., Mary Lou (David) Sobotta of Florida, and Jane Abts of Arcadia; one sister-in-law, Luella Abts of Phoenix, Ariz..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, on October 11, 2001; and one brother, Melvin Abts.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 12 p.m. at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Klos officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia.
Friends may call at the Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary. They may also call on Monday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
