A mechanical engineer. Born on Broomfield, Chelmsford, Essex. Moved to 3 Albert Place, Rusholme, Lancashire. Husband of Caroline Mary Collings-Wells (nee Eisdell). Married in Reading in Apr-Jun 1879. Lived at 3 Albert Place, Rusholme and then in Davyhulme, suburbs of Manchester where several of their children were born. They moved to Mill Hill in London before purchasing Caddington Hall in Bedfordshire in 1903. In 1918 they were living at Brand's House, Hughenden, High Wycombe. Died aged 66 years.

Their son, John Stanhope Collings-Wells, VC, DSO. He was awarded his DSO in Jul 1917 and his VC while leading his battalion during a German attack in France on 21 Mar 1918. He died in action on 27 March 1918. Buried in Bouzincourt Ridge Cemetery, France. He is also commemorated on the memorial cross in the village of Caddington, Bedfordshire (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/115586) and on a memorial plaque in All Saints Church, Caddington.

A second son was Lieutenant Colonel Russell Primrose Collings-Wells, OBE, DSO, 15th Hussars. He also served throughout WW1 and died aged 72 years and is buried in Christ Church, Virginia Water, Surrey.
