An extensive search for the Grindle family was made in Ohio and Vigo County, Indiana. Birth and death dates are unknown; however, the 1850 Ohio, Clark County, Mad River Township census shows his age at 45, calculates to year born about 1805. The book "Robinson's History of Greene County Ohio" article on "Greene County Pioneers from 1803-1840" indicates this family arrived in Miami Township in 1830, later removing to Terre Haute, Indiana. Only his wife Catherine and the last four boys are found in Vigo County, Harrison Township, Indiana in 1860 census years without him. To date, no records are found showing Benjamin arrived. It is unknown whether he made it to Vigo County where he may have died or perhaps died along the way.

Married February 13, 1823 in Greene County, Ohio to Catherine K. Miller
~ Records found reveal at least SEVEN children were born to this union; not linked below but is known:

Julia A. Grindle - born 1837 in Mad River Township, Clark County, Ohio; married May 16, 1856 in Green County, OH to William B. Smith; two children listed with her in 1860 - Alice E. and William E; the Smith family is unable to locate after the year 1860. NOTE: research of her we see middle initial is in question. Her marriage license reveals first writing of her name as Julia L Grannell, while second and third writing lists her as Julia A Grannell. The LDS record lists her Julia A. Grindle.

NOTE - research for the GRINDLE family lines have been found some what difficult as they are found with the different spellings - MY LINE SPELLS NAME AS GRINDLE - other lines are found as- GRANNELL, GRINNELL, GRENNELL and GRINDEL.

ALSO NOTE - family members have come forward with place of birth as Somerset County, Pennsylvania. They are however unable to provide a source to this "fact".
