Mrs John Strupp, 90 who has been ranked among the oldest of the pioneer residents of this locality, died at the home of her son, Joseph on the Strupp farm, three miles northeast of this city, on Saturday evening, September 27, at 7:25 o'clock. Her death was attributed to old age. Although there had been no sudden breakdown, she gradually became weaker, and was forced to spend the last five months of her life in bed. In spite of advanced age and declining health, she retained the keenness of her faculties until the end. Mrs Strupp, nee Caroline Mack, was born in Baden Baden Bavaria Germany, February 28, 1850. When a child of two years her parents, Mr and Mrs Hubert Mack migrated with their family and settled at St. Killian, in the town of Wayne, Washington County. There she was married September 13, 1870 to John Strupp, who died fourteen years ago. The first two years of their wedded life where spent at St. Lawrence, where her husband conducted a saloon. From there they moved to the farm three miles northeast of this city. which has been their home since. Mrs. Strupp is survived by the following sons and daughters: John and Joseph, town of Hartford; Rose (Mrs. William Gehring), St. Lawrence; Margaret (Mrs. Frank Marshall) and Carolyn, Los Angeles Calif.; and Elenore, Milwaukee. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Remmel, of Portage; eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. One son Charles, died twenty years ago. Mrs. Strupp was a devoted member of the St. Lawrence church and of it's Ladies' Sodality. Funeral services were conducted for her at that church on Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock by the perish priest, Rev. O. Ullerich, after which internment was made in the parish cemetery.
