Veronica M. Matthews, 87, formerly of 50 Mill St., Malone, died Saturday at Hill Haven Nursing Home.
A native of Churubusco, Mrs. Matthews resided most of her life in Malone before recently moving to the nursing home in Syracuse. She retired after 23 years with New York Telephone Co. She was the widow of Sidney Matthews.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Notre Dame Church, Malone, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Royal Neighbors and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Smellie of Liverpool and Janet Amond of Hastings; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Notre Dame Church, Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Malone.
