Mary Ellen Buckle was the first of 11 children born to Thomas Charles Buckle and Mollie Leona Jones. On January 1, 1927, she married George Harvey Hendee in Bandon, Coos County. George was born October 24, 1897, in Nebraska, the son of William Hendee and Nancy Rosella Warthow. George and Mary had two daughters, Velma Jean, born in 1927, and Glenda Marie born in 1929. At the time of her death, Mary was 31 years old.
