WILLIAM RILEY SMITH, SR. was born September 28, 1828 in Red River County, TX and died June 1, 1906 in Safford, Graham County, Arizona Territory at age 77.

SPOUSE: He married Mary Jane "Sis" Spillers on July 7, 1873 in Burnet County, TX. Record reads: "W. R. Smith to Mary Jane Spillers". "Sis" was born April 13, 1852 and died March 26, 1931 at age 78. She was the daughter of William Spillers and his first wife Almira McCoy.

NOTE: With our gratitude to Joshua Smith for the military record he has attached to this memorial. The Mexican War spanned the period from April 25, 1846 to Feb. 2, 1848, which means William served as a teenager.
