Forrest attended Pleasant Valley School east of Elk City and later transferred to Canute Schools. He was married to Velma Price on Sept 15, 1940 in the home of Rev J B Connelly in Elk City. They started their life together on a farm southeast of Elk City and later Forrest worked as a carpenter. After a few years he was employed by Cuthbert and Hall and worked his way to foreman of the company. Due to bad health he retired around 1975.
Forrest was baptized at the Hebron Baptist Church as a young boy. Later they moved to Elk City and joined the First Baptist Church of Elk City. He sang in a quartet at church and on the radio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Clifford; two sisters, Jewell and Ruth and two children at birth.
Survivors include his wife Velma Mitchell of Bell Ave in Elk City; one son Randy Mitchell of Enid and one daughter Darlene Fruedeger and husband Ronnie of Norman and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church of Elk City with Rev Neal Helmbacher officiating and interment followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.
