of Red Bank, died Friday at his home. A native of Englewood, Tenn., he was retired from Star Box Manufacturing Co., after 14 years of service, and had worked as an engineer on tow boats for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Mary Sarah Ann Adams, a son, Charlie A. Adams Jr., two brothers, Lee and Walter Adams, and a sister, Nellie Ammons. Survivors include his wife, Dovie Massengale Adams; two sons, Amos Adams, Chattanooga, and Robert E. Adams, Waynesboro, VA; four daughters, Ruby Meade, Chattanooga; Ruth Minter, Arnold, MD; Judy Ritchie and Lorene Jones, both of Florida; two brothers, Donald R. Adams, Cleveland, Tenn., and Emmitt S. Adams, Reliance, Tenn.; sister, Cecil White Jones, Carrollton, Ala.; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Johnnie Statom officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Chattanooga Guardian Chapel, North.
