Services for Mr. Chamblee of Greenwood, were held at 3:30 pm Saturday at Wilson Knight Funeral Home chapel in Greenwood.
A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Chamblee lived in Greenwood since 1943. He was a retired superintendent of streets and sanitation for the city of Greenwood, having been employed with the Greenwood Street Department for 32 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a member of American Public Works Association until 1975. Mr Chamblee was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Greenwood, a Mason, a Shriner, and member of Wuhabi Temple in Jackson. Bilbo was president of Delta Shrine Club in 1958, a member of the Kastem Star, a member the Auxiliary Police of Greenwood, and a former member of the Greenwood Exchange Club.
Survivors include...
two sons, Bilbo B. Chamblee, Jr. of Horn Lake and Stan D. Chamblee of Belzoni;
a daughter, Darlene Hill of New Orleans;
three brothers: V.P. Chamblee and Fred Chamblee, both of Greenwood, and Marvin Chamblee of Corinth;
four sisters: Alice White and Myrtle Wilson, both of Greenwood, Nannie Ruth Carpenter of Ruleville, and Pauline Vickers of Gary, Ind;
seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chamblee was interred at Odd Fellow Cemetery in Greenwood. The Rev. Dennis McKay officiated.
Masonic graveside services will be held at the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jamie Barefoot, Jackie Barefoot and Gary Tingle.
