Gwendolyn H. Kimball was born February 19, 1917 in New Harmony, Utah to Josephine Kelsey and Ernest Grant Hale. She passed away February 23, 2013, four days after her 96th birthday. She was the oldest of 11 children. She married Valden Lavon Kimball on February 8, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The marriage produced five children, and lasted 51 years until Val's death in 1989. Their motto was "No matter what."

Our dear mother loved to garden, golf, sew, bowl, bottle fruit and jelly, quilt, tole paint, crochet and tat. She was happiest in the service of others. She worked many years at the Ambassador Athletic Club where she made many friends. She belonged to The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She opened her home to those in need. She always laughed about how other people's children brought home animals and her kids brought home kids.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Jim) Backman, Jean (Doug) Scothorne and her son, Kirby (Nena); 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, with one on the way, and five great- great grandchildren; sister Elaine Match and brother Stephen Hale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Valden Lavon Kimball; two sons, Delmar and Lyle Kimball, Sr.; brothers, Ernie, Desmond, Orren, Grant, Douglas, and Afton Hale and sisters, Carol Cavarazan and Josephine Bronson.

Funeral Services will be held at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing Thursday evening, February 28, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and one hour prior to the service.

We will always cherish her memory and miss her grace and loving devotion.
