After graduating in 1936 as the Salutatorian from Doole High School she obtained nursing accreditation from McCall and Anderson Nursing School in Brady, TX and went on to serve others passionately through this profession finally retiring from Doctors Hospital after 20 years of loyal service, mostly in its emergency room. Melba was dedicated to her Christian service, nursing, animals, gardening, cooking and most of all unconditional love for family. The family will have a private burial followed by a celebration of her life with family and friends at Restland's Wildwood Chapel, officiated by her longtime Pastor Bro. Ken Ashlock on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to New Liberty Baptist Church Garland, TX or to the SPCA of Texas.
