Born on December 8, 1929, in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, he is a son of the late John L. and Beulah S. (Shelley) Auker.
His wife of nearly 63 years, Marian L. (Auker) Auker, whom he married on March 19, 1950, survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons; Robert P. Auker, Sr. and his wife Joyce, of Mifflintown, Steven J. Auker, of Port Royal, Daniel C. Auker and his wife Brenda, of Mifflintown; one brother, John M. Auker and his wife Alta, of Thompsontown; one sister, Joann Yoder and her husband Ted, of Belleville, one sister-in-law, Rena M. Auker, of Mifflintown and he leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Tammy Haas, Shelly Gerberich, Robert Auker, Jr., Amy Zeigler, Joni Auker, Kyle Auker, Kelsey Auker, Brent Auker and Eli Auker, as well as 7 great grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter.
One granddaughter, Kayla E. Auker and one brother, Earl R. Auker preceded him in death.
Mr. Auker was a 1947 graduate of Thompsontown High School, during which he was awarded the Keystone Farmer Award. He was also a member of Lauver's Mennonite Church, the Young Farmers Club and for more than 40 years he served as the District Treasurer for the Mennonite Disaster Service.
Lavon was a lifelong, self- employed dairy farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, on Monday, March 4, 2013, from the Lauver's Mennonite Church, Evendale with Pastor John Gehman officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Viewing will be from 4 - 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
