LaVerne Martin Wall, 78, of 2029 Madison Road, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Hooker and Reverend Bruce Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Knollhurst Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wall was born August 6, 1934, in Rockingham County, to the late Elijah Bonnett Martin and Annie Dillon Martin. She was a graduate of Madison-Mayodan High School, a member of New Vision Fellowship and retired from the Rockingham County School System. LaVerne loved her family, especially her grandkids, loved being with all children, and enjoyed cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur L. Martin and Kenneth Martin and sisters, Virginia Freeman and Kitty Mae Martin.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Paul Wesley Wall of the home; son, Wesley Wall (Emily); brothers, Alton W. Martin of Richmond, VA, Eldee Martin (Jeanette) of Nashville, TN, and Barham Martin (Opal) of Yanceyville; sisters, Mollie Wall and Susan Gore (David) both of Madison; grandchildren, Christopher Wall and Julie Wall; numerous nephews and nieces and special nieces Nicole and Carly Richards.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the home.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
