Wilbur J. Cox, age 56 of Connersville, passed away on Monday February, 25, 2013 at his residence.
Born August 31, 1956 in Connersville, he is the son of the late, William T. and Betty J. Trabel Cox.
Wilbur is a 1974 graduate of Connersville High School.
He married Rebecca "Becky" Combs on June 18, 1977 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
After high school he worked for the Whitewater Valley Railroad. He worked for ten years in Richmond at D & M and in Connersville at WCI for two years. He then went on to work at Ford/Visteon for 22 years as a Journeyman Millwright and Machine Repair. After Visteon closed he worked for Tomasco in Winchester for four years and had been working at Stant Manufacturing since June 2012.
In his leisure time he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in the various sports that they participated in. He was an avid fan of Butler Basketball and the Connersville Spartans. Wilbur loved spending time with his grandchildren and he was known as a hard worker who always kept busy.
In addition to his wife, Becky, he is survived by his children, Amber R. Cox and her partner Julia Pekarek of Indianapolis and Bryan J. and Sylver Cox of Connersville; three brothers, William "Bill" Cox of Richmond and Mark & Davida Cox of Connersville and Garry Cox of Connersville; two grandchildren, Savannah Cox and Brayden J. Cox and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, and a brother, Jerome Cox preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Stanley Herber officiating.
Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.
Friends and family may visit Friday evening at Urban Winkler Funeral Home from 4-8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
