Terry Dennis Byrd, 66, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at home after a five-year battle with mesothelioma.
Born the son of the late Roscoe and Belle Byrd, he was a graduate of English Sterling High School, a Navy veteran, a retiree of International Harvester and a member Highfill Chapel Church, where he was a trustee, and VFW.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Byrd and an infant, and a granddaughter, Baylee Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Carolyn Kay Allen; a son, Christopher Byrd of Indianapolis; a daughter, Melissa Miller of Bermerton, Wash.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Highfill Chapel Church.
Funeral: Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at the church with burial in Highfill Chapel Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor David Eastridge.
