Wayne Eugene Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Baker of Pine River, Minn., was born at Blue Springs, Neb., March 20, 1929, and was killed March 18, 1952, just two days after his 23rd birthday by a scaffold breaking and letting him fall 100 feet while on work on an elevator at Estill, S. C.

He moved to Minnesota with his parents in December, 1940. He attended school in Nebraska and later graduated with the class of 1946 from Pine River High School.

On Sept. 14, 1948, Wayne and Martha McLaughlin were united in marriage at the church at Poplar, Minn. They lived a few months in the Poplar community, then moved to the home farm near Swanburg, Minn., where they lived for a year. Then Wayne went to work for the Tillotson Construction Co., of Omaha. This work took him through many states during the past few years.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; parents; two sisters, Margaret and Marjorie of the home; a grandmother, Mrs. Lelah Grinola of Pine River; and many relatives and a host of friends in Nebraska and Minnesota.

Funeral services were held at Swanburg, Minn., with the Rev. Mr. Backlund and the Rev. Johnson officiating. Pallbearers were all former school mates. Burial was in the Swanburg Cemetery.
