Former Lacona resident Lynn V. Blount, 67, died Wednesday at his home in Winterhaven, Fla.
A native of Richland, Mr. Blount lived in Lacona before moving to Florida in 1984. He retired as owner and operator of Colonial Court Campgrounds in Sandy Creek and also owned and operated a Texaco service station in Sandy Creek. He was a graduate of Sandy Creek Central School.
Mr. Blount was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bartow, Fla., a past master of Sandy Creek Lodge 564, F&AM, and a past patron of Lake Ontario Chapter 124, OES. He was a trustee and former president of Woodlawn Cemetery Association in Sandy Creek and a committee member for Sandy Creek Boy Scout Troop 830k. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Blount was a member of the Robert Edwards American Legion Post in Pulaski.
Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Stewart; a daughter, Rebecca Barber of Bartow; two sons, David of Winterhaven and Steven, a Marine Corps staff sergeant stationed in Tustin, Calif.; three sisters, Ann Vextor of Pulaski, Joyce Kehoe of Bartow and Pauline Snyder of Osceola; a brother, Richard of Arcadia, Fla.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, the Rev. Lorraine Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sandy Creek.
