Deanna Shirley Peak Martin (Dee), 70, of Washington, Utah, passed away on Thursday, February 14th, 2013 after a nine-month struggle with cancer and a 40 year battle with Bipolar Depression.

Dee was born in Pasadena, California on May 3, 1942 to Russell and Edna Peak. She is a graduate of Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College where she was named Miss Future Business Executive Secretary. You could have observed her using her short hand skills to take notes at church up to her passing. This skill was very instrumental in helping her and her husband-who she also met at PCC-in church, school and work efforts. She married Garry W. Martin for time and all eternity on November 10, 1962 in the LDS Temple in Los Angeles.

Dee, a fisherman's daughter, (her father was a world known fly rod design and builder) spent many summers in West Yellowstone, Montana with her parents and siblings, and then with her husband and children. She enjoyed the many years working with her father as a secretary and as a very skilled rod wrapper. The guide and ferrule wrappings on many of Russ Peak Rods show her beautiful work. She loved her family, nature, thrift shops, her pets Jake and Elwood, music, dancing, and people-watching. She was a creative soul and gifted writer. She was constantly blessing others with thoughtful home-made gifts and charming notes and letters.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brother David. She is survived by husband Garry Martin; children James & Tammy Martin (Idaho), Jennifer (Martin) & Dr. Steve Eliason (Indiana), Jay & Cristy Martin (New York), and Josh & Amy Martin (No. Carolina); sisters, Virginia Peak Reed (Montana) and Cheryl Peak Taylor (Colorado); and fifteen loving grandchildren. She loved them so much that I know she would want me to include their names: Cole, Jake, Trent, Avery, Charlie, Shannon, Julie, Rebecca, Shelly, Brian, Jenny, Jamie, Madison, Tyler, and Blake.

Dee's funeral will be held at the Buena Vista LDS Stake Center on Fairway Dr., at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 25, 2013. The viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm prior to services. The interment will follow at the Washington City Cemetery.

Her family wants to give special thanks to her Ward and Stake family, the Washington City Fire Dept., and to the nurses and attendants from IHC Hospice, especially Collette and Brittany for their truly tender and outstanding care. Dad believes that angels came from the other side to help them. We will miss her but we know that through God's Glorious Plan of Salvation, we as families can be together again forever.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, (435) 673-2454. Friends and Family may sign Dee's guestbook at www.spilsburymortuary.com.
