Mrs. Maggie Barnett widow of the late B.S.Barnett died at the home of her son-in-law S.T. Duff in Frankfort, Kansas on Sunday,September 16, 1923 at the age of 73 years,14 days. She had been in failing health for some time and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Barnett was born near Calhoun,Missouri on September 2, 1850. She was the daughter of the late John Robinson,a pioneer Baptist preacher, who lived for many years prior to his death in Morgan county.
She was married to B.S. Barnett on September 3, 1871. To this union was born seven children, three died in infancy and four survive her; Jay Barnett, Clinton, Mo. Mrs. Cecil Buzan, Conway, Mo. Mrs. W.R. Glasgow and Mrs. S.T. Duff of Frankfort, Kansas.
For the past five years she had been blind. She was a good woman, a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Baptist church since early life.
Mrs. Barnett’s remains were brought to Versailles, and taken charge by W.F. Kidwell undertaker.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Barnett’s remains were laid to rest next to her husband in the city cemetery.
