PHILIP ASHBY TAKEN BY DEATH
Resident of City Last Ten Years Dies at County Hospital


Philip B. Ashby, 69, resident of this city for the past ten years, died Friday at the county hospital. In failing health for several years, he became worse three weeks ago and was taken to the hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Flanigan, Reed and Hull funeral home with burial at the Cortland cemetery in Jackson county.

The casket will be open at the funeral home when friends may call after Sunday noon.

Mr. Ashby was born in Illinois, but spent most of his life in Jackson county around Cortland before moving to Columbus.

Mrs. Ashby preceded him in death.

Surviving are five sons, Joseph of Bedford, Jason W. of Greensburg, James E. of New Albany, Charles of West Virginia, and Robert, stationed with the Navy at Jacksonville, Forida; and four daughters, Mrs. Alma Perine of Indianapolis, Mrs. A. J. Melon of Michigan, Mrs. June Havron and Mrs. Delmer Judd, both of East Columbus.
