Oldham, William "Curtis", age 81 of Dayton, Ohio transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was born on May 1, 1931 to Irene (Oldham) Eggleston and Robert Oldham Jr. He is a graduate of Dunbar High School Class of 1950. He retired from General Motors (Inland) after 34 years of service. He was a faithful member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, serving as an usher. He was an avid athlete in high school and received numerous awards in softball, track and basketball. His most prestigious award was being inducted into the Dayton Basketball Hall of Fame. His love for the game led him to coach youth basketball teams throughout the city of Dayton. He was a member of the Inland Industrial League and AAU basketball team. Most of his retirement was spent socializing, "TALKING", telling his personal stories over and over. Those that knew "Curtis" knew he loved to play cards (Couples Club), but most of all CUTTING GRASS. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert Jr. Maurice and Melvin Oldham; sisters, Fannie White and Christine Abney; wife, Arlene Oldham; sons William Curtis Jr. and Robert Oldham. He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy; his devoted and loving children Charles and Sondra Oldham; his loving partner of 20 years, Harriet Townsend; step-children, Rodney, Sherrie, Karen, and a very devoted stepson DeWayne (Angie) Perkins; sisters- in law, Dorothy Oldham, Norma (Lavern) Taylor, Linda (Ernie) Carter, Sandra (James) Quartman and a special sister- in- law Norrinia Allen; brother-in law Leon (Stella) Harris; special family Tanya (Michael) Caul, Shirelle (Jeff) Cox, Candace Willis and Robin Taylor; special friends George Johnson, Richard Jeter, John Henry, Margaret Brown and Patricia (James) Gibson. He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service 11:00 A.M., THURSDAY, February 28, 2013 at CALVARY MBC, 2067 N. Gettysburg Ave. Rev. Morris Gogggins, Officiating and Rev. Ronald Ford, Eulogist. Viewing will be held 9:00 A.M., Thursday; the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Woodland Cemetery.
