Anita C. Lane Altheide, 76, of Hannibal, passed away at 3:14 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Beth Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Revs. Michael Stoerger and Richard Ingmire will officate. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel and from 10: 00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Altheide was born September 2, 1936, at Ilasco, Mo., the only daughter of Buford Elmer and Doris Barnes Lane. She married Charles Richard (Dick) Altheide on November 17, 1957, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles Richard (Dick) Altheide of Hannibal; three sons, Richard W. (Cheryl Taylor) Altheide of Rolla, Mo., Robert W. Altheide of Alabaster, Ala.., Craig A. (Frannie) Altheide of Hannibal; six grandchildren, Samantha Altheide of Talking Rock, Ga., Martha Altheide and Paul Altheide of Rolla, Mo., Joshua Altheide, Catherine Altheide and Hallie Altheide of Hannibal; one niece, Lora Lane (David) White of Hannibal, four nephews, Frank (Brenda) Lane of Hannibal, Martin (Paula) Lane of Las Vegas, Nev., Brenton (Judy) Lane and Dean Lane all of the state of Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Lane of Hannibal.

She was preceded in death by her father, Buford Elmer Lane, mother Doris Barnes Lane Benz, step-father, Martin H. Benz and two brothers, Buford Stanley Lane and Franklin Louis (Chub) Lane.

Anita was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, was treasurer for St. John's Lutheran School and Day Care for many years. She was a member of the committee that started St. John's Day Care. Anita stuffed papers at the Hannibal Courier Post for many years, for the benefit of St. John's Lutheran School. She was a member of the Ilasco Reunion committee, lifetime member and board member of the Ilasco Area Historical Preservation Society, graduate of the 1953 class of Ilasco High School and worked at the Hannibal National Bank for eight years.

Anita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working at the computer and was a tireless volunteer. Anita was very fond of her pet cat, Pepe de Peu.

Pallbearers will be Louis Riggs, Danny Riggs, Fay Bagby, Josh Altheide, Steve Schmohe, Simon Begley and Jordan Yarrington.
