Although at present I don't have proof I am linking to this family for future research and hoping we can find something along the way. I have reason to believe that this could possibly be Daniels' son Horton who married Elizabeth Faubion. The path's of the families of the Faubion's in Fauquier Co. Virginia to Greene/Cocke Counties and I can document Daniel being in Cocke Co Tenn during the time Spencer was born. Also Daniel's sister Chloe McPherson married John Benjamin Rector, the nephew of Diannah Rector Faubion, Elizabeth's mother. John Benjamin Rector also was in Washington Co Tenn during the same timeframe the McPherson family was there and he died in Greene Co. The paths are all the same.

Also Spencer is a very common name in our Faubion and Rector families. Diannah Rector Faubion had a brother and son named Spencer.

No one in this McPherson families knows anything about Spencer that I can find nor his possible father Horton.

Some time about 1820 a county academy, known as Anderson Academy, was opened in a brick building about one mile south of the town. The first trustees for the institution were Isaac Leonard, Abraham McCoy, Peter Fine, Daniel McPherson and William Lillard, appointed in 1806. Later Alexander Smith, Henry Stephens, Francis J. Carter and Augustis Jenkins were added. Among the first teachers were Rev. Robert McAlpin and Nathaniel Hood. About 1840 the Academy was removed to the town, where a new brick building was erected, and the school continued to be taught until the war.
