A funeral service for Alton Attaway of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013, with Jerry Savage officiating. A military graveside service, under the direction of The Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Alton Attaway passed away at his residence on Monday morning, February 25, 2013. He was born in the Pine Forest Community on January 18, 1926, the son of Henry Attaway and Gladys (Trapp) Attaway. He married Scharlene Dalton in Danville, Virginia in July, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was retired from the Texas Highway Department and owner of Attaway Piano Tuning for over 30 years. He was a member of League Street Church of Christ and he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was also a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. Survivors include: three daughters, Cindy McMahan and Wesley of Russellville, Arkansas, Nancy Scism and Don and Patricia Brown, all of Danville Virginia; special friend, Ralphie Harrod; grandchildren, Aimee Moody, Kristina Sekula, Jacob Scism, Angie Neil and Georgina Hudson and great-grandchildren, Emma Moody, Madison Neil, Amanda Neil, Lily Paige Hudson and Fallon Hudson.
