Fred was a welder and in WWI, married to Vivian Hazel Jones and had 2 sons, Fred Virgil Pettit who died in 1992 Fresno, Calif and Donald Raymond Pettit who died in 2006 San Francisco, Calif. Later remarried, 1 daughter, Alma Lynn Pettit Howard. Fred was the son of Asa F. Pettit and Annie Cecelia McCormick.
